Specialized Houseboat Construction Services

Capital Builders specializes in houseboat and floating home remodeling throughout Portland and the surrounding waterways. We’ve built a strong reputation among moorage communities for handling the unique challenges that come with working on homes on the water.

From window replacement and deck repairs to full kitchen and bathroom remodeling, our team understands what it takes to safely and effectively complete construction projects on houseboats.

Houseboats require a different level of expertise than traditional homes. We regularly provide:

Deck repair and structural reinforcement
Bathroom and kitchen remodeling

General handyman services for floating homes

Each project is approached with careful planning to ensure durability, safety, and long-term performance in a marine environment.

The Unique Challenges of Houseboat Remodeling

Working on a houseboat presents challenges that most contractors simply aren’t equipped to handle. Experience matters, especially when precision and adaptability are required.

Working Without a Stable Surface

On the water, nothing is perfectly still. Passing boats and natural movement mean that achieving level, square, and plumb construction requires constant measurement and adjustment.

Tool and Material Management

Extra care must be taken when handling tools and materials. Dropped tools—or even building materials—can be lost to the water, making organization and jobsite awareness critical.

Logistics and Setup Time

Transporting materials and tools to and from a houseboat takes significantly more time than a traditional jobsite. Set-up and break-down require careful coordination to keep projects running efficiently.

Why Experience Matters for Floating Home Projects

Not every contractor is equipped to work on houseboats. These projects demand a deep understanding of structural limitations, moisture control, and access constraints.

At Capital Builders, we bring hands-on experience working in Portland’s moorage communities, allowing us to complete projects safely and efficiently while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship.
